DICOM for Fujifilm MRI

DICOM is an abbreviation for Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine. It is an evolving standard maintained by NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) in an effort to facilitate the communication of certain types of information between computers used in medical imaging.

The standard, currently referred to as "DICOM 3.0", covers many different communication modes, called "service classes" in the DICOM terminology. Computer based imaging devices adhering to the standard for any particular modes or service classes are properly referred to as DICOM 3.0 compliant.
